Olympic Weightlifting Seminar

IronBody Fitness is proud to once again host Coach Jamie Hale as he presents a seminar on Olympic Weightlifting for Performance. Coach Hale, founder of MaxCondition Training, Training and Nutrition Advisor to World Organization of Martial Arts Athletes -Team Canada is a former USA Weightlifting coach as well. He is also a member of the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame and author of Knowledge and nonsense: the science of nutrition and exercise.

When: Saturday May 9, 2009

Where: IronBody Fitness 1601 Business Center Ct, Suite 103

What you will learn:

    * Special Flexibility Exercises
    * Olympic lifts and derivatives
    * Olympic Weightlifting myths
    * MaxCondition Learning Progression
    * Plyometrics and History of Plyometrics
    * Unorthodox assistance exercise
    * Benefits of Olympic Lifts
    * Who can benefit from the Olympic Lifts?

Training the the Olympic lifts offer benefits including the development of explosiveness, body awareness, flexibility, coordination, balance, reactive strength and maximum strength.  While kettlebells are a great tool using a barbell for the Olympic lifts requires different neuromuscular patterns which further enhance the athletes athleticism.  The seminar will focused on the use of the barbell.

Olympic lifts aren't supposed to be done for high reps. You use lighter weights to groove the movement - practice - and increase the amount of weight you can use. Oly work is typically done for many sets with low repetitions (2-5) and sufficient rest between sets. No need to use Olympic lifts for high rep metabolic work.

After the Oly seminar we will be having a cookout open house for anyone who wishes to come out and play.

Brings some friends and we can show them what they are missing!
We'll be starting right after the seminar about 5pm May 9th
