First Place – Penny Gross – Lost 9 inches and 15 lbs $500
The transformation challenge was certainly a challenge but well worth it. I’m not going to lie, the exercise sessions were tough and I found myself questioning what the heck I was doing there, but an hour or two after leaving I would feel great and had a ton of energy. In fact, I haven’t felt better overall in quite some years. Even though I pushed myself harder than ever, I managed not to hurt myself due to the fact that Dave made sure I used the proper technique for each exercise. This is something I wouldn’t have cared so much about when I was younger but is of great importance to me now that I am getting older. Also, the exercise sessions were never boring as Dave does a great job of mixing up a variety of exercises. In addition, the program covered proper nutrition and diet. I believe all of these things together helped me boost my metabolism and I was finally able to lose the extra pounds I had been carrying around for years. I am very pleased with the results and believe the transformation challenge was one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself. I look forward to continuing a regular exercise routine with Iron Body Fitness and achieving my fitness goals!- Penny
1st Runner Up – Jen Rudolph – Lost almost 6 inches and 12.4lbs – $250
I was intimidated coming to my first class. I’d never used kettlebells and I’d heard stories about how easy it is to get hurt. I had nothing to worry about: Dave stood near me for my first couple of weeks watching me and guiding me on proper form. Every workout was challenging, but nothing I could not handle. I left sweatier than I’d been in years. Did I mention that I started at the very bottom in weights?
After a couple of weeks, I was able to move to the pink tape bell and I was so excited, I texted my friends after class! I started noticing changes in my strength and Dave no longer had to stand beside me each class. With my old gym routine, at this point I would have been bored with monotony and quit, but at Iron Body, each class was a new routine and I looked forward to seeing what new challenges awaited. Unlike my old gym routine, I was surprised who quickly the class time flew by.
Like some old boyfriends, my excess weight didn’t want to GO AWAY and I saw no real change on the scale, but I knew I was improving because my clothes were looser and I had to buy new workout pants. At the half-way point, Dave told me I’d lost 6% body fat and I was ecstatic!
By the end of the challenge, I could see visible changes in my body: my belly was flatter, my arms weren’t wiggly, my face was thinner. I could do squats with ease and in proper form and I worked my way up to the tie-dyed tape bell and the pink tape bell was now my light bell.
My weight loss was better than I’d ever hoped for: I finally lost the weight that I’d been promising myself I would lose and I am at my lightest weight in two years and I’ve set a new goal to go for another 15 pounds.
Finally, and probably the best part for me, since learning how to move the right way and engage my core effectively, I haven’t had any issues with my back.
2nd Runner Up – Dana Stroud – Lost 4 inches and 1.8lbs – $250
I am a 47 year old mother of three. Through the years I have tried different exercise programs with little luck. I have tried working out at home, running, boot camp and various group classes. With these approaches to exercise, I experienced little results. The running and boot camp kept me in good cardio condition, but I still didn’t like the way I looked. I had no muscle definition. I really wanted to find a fitness program that focused on strength training without the use of boring machines.
I discovered Iron Body Fitness 2 1/2 years ago. The changes I have seen in my body since I started have been dramatic. I remember in the beginning feeling so weak. I continued to workout faithfully 3 times a week. Eventually, I was increasing the amount of weight I was using, my core was improving and for the first time in my life, I had muscle definition. It was so exciting to see my body changing. Training with Dave is not focused on strength alone, but nutrition as well. I have learned how to eat healthy and clean without feeling like I have to deny myself the foods I enjoy on occasion. The elements of strength training and nutrition have helped me lose 4″ overall. I feel better than I did in my 20’s and 30’s. I’m totally addicted to kettlebell training! I would recommend Iron Body for anyone looking to make some incredible changes in their body. It truly has changed my overall wellbeing and I feel confident it will do the same for you!
Our criteria was visible, apparent change not pounds lost. So while others lost more weight they didn’t lose fat which is where is shows the most. Dana lost 4 inches and only 1.8lbs – she actually gained muscle mass which is what makes the difference.
Muscle requires more energy to maintain, meaning your body has to burn fat to maintain the muscle. By increasing your muscle mass you raise your metabolism which helps reduce your fat stores!
